Sheep CRC Conference 2010

To be held in Adelaide on 20-21 October 2010

Venue: The Shores Function Complex, Cnr Hamra & Military Road, West Beach, Adelaide

This will be the sheep industry's premier event for the year with a packed 2-day program covering all of the Sheep CRC's results to date.

Program

The program will include:
  • A rapidly changing sheep industry
  • Genetics - the engine room of change
  • Transforming sheep and their management
  • Increasing demand for lightweight next-to-skin knitwear
  • Meat eating quality and lean meat yield
  • Innovation and improvement - adoption
  • Postgraduate poster introductions throughout the proceedings

  • The Conference will commence with arrival registration and collection of delegate packs at 8.00am on Wednesday 20 October and the Conference will start at 9.00am
  • The Conference will conclude at 5.00pm on Thursday 21 October.
Registration, cost and payment
  • The registration form is available for download from this website (see below).
  • The Conference will be heavily subsidised by the Sheep CRC and its partners. You are asked to pay for 1 day's attendance and the second day is free.
  • At this greatly reduced rate there will be no partial registrations or discounts.
  • The cost includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day as well as drinks and BBQ on the Wednesday evening. You will also receive the proceedings (a special edition of the CSIRO Journal of Animal Production Science) and an additional booklet of auxiliary papers.
  • The cost is $150.00 inclusive of GST (no discounts or partial registrations will be accepted).
  • Payment will be accepted by cheque, money order, direct deposit and credit card (only Visa and Mastercard accepted). 
  • Registration and payment closes 30 September.
Venue and Accommodation
  • The Conference will be held at The Shores Complex at West Beach, Adelaide, South Australia.
  • A large selection of accommodation can be found at the nearby suburb of Glenelg (see link to accommodation below).
  • The Shores Complex and Glenelg are a few kilometres apart and each is about 5-10 minutes from the airport.
  • Adelaide city is a few kilometres on the other side of the airport from The Shores Complex.
  • There are also self-contained cabins and a caravan park alongside The Shores Complex, however there appears to be little in the way of dining options there.
Transport to/from Conference (download map below)
  • Public buses run between Glenelg and The Shores Complex, however taxis or shared vehicles are another option.
  • The Sheep CRC has organised complimentary buses to pick up and drop off at three locations in Glenelg as follows:

Please indicate on your registration form under 'SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS' if you would like to book a place on the complimentary buses organised by the Sheep CRC.

Wednesday morning:
7.45am pick up opposite the Best Western Ensenada Motor Inn on Colley Terrace
7.45am pick up near the roundabout at the marina next to Wigley Reserve (cnr Colley Terrace & Anzac Highway)
7.45am pick up opposite the Comfort Inn Haven Marina on Adelphi Terrace

Wednesday evening:
8.00pm pick up from The Shores at the conclusion of the Lamb BBQ dinner and drop off at the 3 locations in Glenelg listed above

Thursday morning:
7.45am pick up opposite the Best Western Ensenada Motor Inn on Colley Terrace
7.45am pick up near the roundabout at the marina next to Wigley Reserve (cnr Colley Terrace 7 Anzac Highway)
7.45am pick up opposite the Comfort Inn Haven Marina on Adelphi Terrace

Please note that no buses will run from The Shores to the airport or Glenelg at the end of the conference. You will need to make your own transport arrangements following the conference.

Dining
Glenelg has a large variety of cafes and restaurants.

Sheep CRC Staff and Speakers
Please note that all Sheep CRC staff and speakers are required to register and pay to attend the Conference.
